I have never read such book that took me on a complete emotional roller-coaster. I am still reading this book and have not finished but I do intend to have it done in a few weeks. This book is definitely a must read. It’s a story of a young boy named Amir who grows up to be a respectable man, but there has always been a guilt settled in his heart; guilt of betraying a friend who was more like a brother. ‘The Kite Runner’ is a heartbreaking tale of an unlikely friendship crafted in the heart of Afghanistan, Kabul. This book sets in the time of a dying monarchy of Afghanistan because of rising political issues based on ethnicity, religion and politics. This novel has had me left speechless at times because of the strong descriptions this book provides to the readers. To readers, it may seem as if they are ‘watching’ all the words happen, rather than just reading them, connecting us to the book and its characters. There were many turning points and twists shown in this book; some were good and some were bad. Hosseini’s work provoked so many emotions. At times I felt very happy, but at some points, the book would show the readers the unexpected of the unexpected. This is definitely something to check out when considering getting a new book to read. Trust me, after reading this you are going to be amazed by the beautiful work presented in the form of a novel by Khaled Hosseini. I am a person that hates reading. There are only certain books that catch enough of my attention. This one I could not put down. A person that hates reading, claims that this novel is probably the greatest novel she has read, probably says a lot about this book. However, as for my own reading goals, I do want to start discovering more books because I want to improve my own vocabulary and build upon english skills that will help me excel in other core classes, english being one of the classes that will be greatly affected by my reading skills.
